Packers vs Saints, Thursday night will be a showcase for two of the NFL's best passing offenses. But given the fact that both teams will be expected to pile up yards and score points through the air, the game could be decided by which team has the more reliable running game -- keeping the opposing offense off the field early, then killing the clock and holding onto the lead late in the game.

The Saints ran the ball fairly well in the preseason, averaging 4.1 yards per carry, and expect to carry that into the regular season. Thomas is calling his partnership with Sproles and Ingram a "three-headed monster."

Packers defensive lineman Ryan Pickett says he expects the Saints to use Sproles in space, much as they did with Bush. And Pickett already sees Ingram, the 2009 Heisman Trophy winner at Alabama, emerging as a tough runner who can break tackles.

""First thing's first, you have to stop the running game," Pickett said. "Because if you let them run the ball and they start throwing, you can't stop them. You've got to take one thing away from them, so you've got to stop the run."

Edison, a Texas native who played at Stephen F. Austin, was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2009. He went to Seattle after being released by the Titans this year.

Elvis Dumervil, returning from a torn chest muscle last August and hoping to regain the form that produced an NFL-high 17 sacks in 2009, was a force against an offense led by Tim Tebow on Saturday in the Denver Broncos' intrasquad scrimmage.Unlock HQ Video HQ video delivered by Akamai Dumervil bulked up 15 pounds to 260 for his conversion back to end in a 4-3 defense.

Playing with the first-team defense against a second unit led by Tebow, Dumervil rushed around the edge with abandon, chasing Tebow out of the pocket and twice prompting the officials to blow their whistles to signify a dead ball before there was contact. Rookie Von Miller added a third sack of Tebow, who could only muster three pass attempts, completing one. He ran for 5 yards in his time against the first-team defense, which didn't allow a point in the scrimmage at Invesco Field at Mile High.

"It felt good to come out and contribute to the team," Dumervil said as he signed autographs following the scrimmage. "That's what you miss most of all: coming out here in front of the fans, back here at Invesco. It's a magic place and it's exciting. It was a good feeling being back on the field."

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with defensive end Raheem Brock, the team announced this evening.

In Brock's first season in Seattle, he recorded a career-high 9.0 sacks, and added 32 tackles (26 solo). He teamed with Chris Clemons to post the third-most sacks among defensive ends in the NFL with 20.0 in 2010.

The 10-year veteran played his first eight seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, played in two Super Bowls, winning Super Bowl XLI, and has made the postseason in each of his nine seasons.

San Diego Chargers-One of the NFL's elite offenses regained a big-play receiver on Friday when Malcom Floyd and the Chargers agreed on a two-year contract. Terms of the deal weren't released.

Floyd, 6-foot-5 and deft at snatching passes above defenders, averaged 19.4 yards per catch last year and led San Diego's wide receivers with 37 receptions despite missing five games with a hamstring injury.

Reports out of Baltimore had the Ravens close to signing Floyd on Friday. An hour before Floyd's deal was announced, Volek said Chargers players were "hoping and praying" the 29-year-old Floyd would return to San Diego.

The Chargers were without Pro Bowl receiver Vincent Jackson for training camp and most of the 2010 season. Their offense still ended up second in the NFL in both passing yards and passer rating. The only starter missing from the offense that also led the NFL in total yardage last season is running back Darren Sproles, who signed with the Saints. In his 11 games last season, Floyd had six touchdown catches, only three fewer than his career total in 51 games before last season.
